The Company

Gameware Development was formed in April 2003. Our CEO, Jeremy Cooke, had successfully purchased the IP (Intellectual Property) and other assets of Creature Labs, which had been placed into liquidation. With a core team consisting of Ian Saunter, formerly Development Director at CL; Mark Stamps (CTO) and Dylan Banarse (Senior Artificial Life Engineer), we set out to create a company that could do justice to further developing the ideas, philosophy and sense of fun which characterised Creature Labs, Cyberlife and prior to that, Millennium Interactive - the company that spawned our two best-known games series, James Pond and Creatures.

Some six months later and we are now settled into new premises in the centre of Cambridge. We've already completed a number of projects including versions of James Pond II: Codename RoboCod for Nintendo Gameboy Advance and PSOne consoles (due for release later this year) and delivering an exciting new A-Life creation system for the BBC called BAMZOOKi (details of which will be available by late November).

Of course we've also been hatching some new plans to take our products and experience into new areas. Among other things, we want to bring a version of Creatures to mobile phones, probably dovetailing with Creatures Docking Station in some way, and to get new next-generation versions of Creatures and James Pond into development and onto the market.
